A London Athenians Toastmasters Evening
A typical meeting by the former Club President,Kate McNeilly
A Toastmasters Club is all about public speaking and a good meeting will give all participants the opportunity to speak.
A typical meeting will start with a session of impromptu speaking or "TABLE TOPICS" in which members are invited to speak for around 90 seconds on a subject given without prior notice.
There will also be a session of PREPARED SPEECHES to meet the objectives of assignments defined in the various Toastmasters public speaking manuals.

EVALUATION
is an important part of the Toastmasters training process and each
speech will be evaluated by a fellow member whose role it is to
encourage the speaker and recommend constructive ways in which the
speech might be improved.
This process of analysis and recommendation also improves the Evaluator's own speaking skills.
The table topics session is also evaluated by a Topics Evaluator and the whole meeting is evaluated by a General Evaluator.
Evaluations tend to be given by the more experienced members, although all club members take turns to perform the other "functionary" roles such as Chairman, Topics Master and Timekeeper.
